The Barrow House is a village pub in Egerton, Kent with a rich local history dating back to 1576. Previously known as The George, the inn needed a new name and identity to represent a fresh start after it had stood derelict for two years.
To reflect the pub’s position at the centre of the village and at the heart of the community, the name is drawn from Egerton’s oldest and most distinctive landmark – the Bronze Age burial mound, or ‘barrow’, in a field to the east of the village. Three symbols serve as a logo, referencing the cartographic representation of barrows.
