Fedrigoni 365 is an annual collaboration involving designers, illustrators and photographers from throughout the UK, gathered together by an open call for entries. Each participant is asked to contribute a piece of work interpreting a date provided to them at random.
Over 1,000 creatives took part in the Fedrigoni 365/2021 calendar project, which was printed on a Ricoh digital five colour Pro C7200X machine. This allowed each book to contain a unique collection of 365 designs compiled from the pool of submissions using an automated print process.
To accommodate this variability, this year each participant was given a number between 1 and 31 together with a seed word, instead of a specific date. They were asked to produce a visual interpretation of the number using the word as an inspirational starting point. Our number was ‘23’ and our word was ‘double’.
In response to this brief, our numeric design explores the similarities of form between the numbers 2 and 3 resulting in an ambigram that expresses the idea of duality.
